Saturday April 29th 2017 7.30pm
Saturday 29th April marked the final “official” concert in this year’s programme and we were delighted to share the evening with our good friends the Sherwin singers. Held at St Osmund’s Church, Wilmorton—as the building offers such wonderful acoustics for choral singing — it was very pleasing to be able to sing in front of such a sizeable audience.
As usual choristers stepped up to the plate and delivered an excellent performance which was enjoyed by all including the Deputy Mayor and Mayoress of Derby, John and Juliette Whitby; local city Councillor John Evans; chairman of Derbyshire Children’s Holiday Centre, Bill Tomlinson; and Fundraising Manager for DCHC, David Harrison and his wife Anne.
We were also delighted to be supported by local police officers Sergeant Graham Young, PCSO Steph Holt and PCSO Jim Sadler who greeted the audience upon their arrival.
The Sherwin singers performed seven songs during the evening which provided musical variety and a feminine touch to the evening.
Whilst delighted with the high quality of the evening’s performance it should be of little surprise as the choir has delivered a consistently good offering throughout the season. Well done gentlemen!
